How it works
Where the prices come from
AirSource uses price data from the Aviasales Data API. These prices come from the cache of searches made by Aviasales users in the previous 48 hours and are not a guaranteed live quote.
When we show a price we label it “last observed price”. The actual price and availability are confirmed on the booking site. Prices are shown in US dollars for the US market of Aviasales; the booking site shows the same market and currency.
What we show
For each route and date we show the cheapest flight among those returned by the source and, when different, the cheapest direct flight: airline, flight number, departure and arrival airports, local departure time, stops and flight time as stated by the source. “Direct” means no change of plane, as reported by the source: a direct flight can include a stop. Flight time does not include layovers; the arrival time and the total travel time come from the Aviasales ticket link (see below).
For itineraries with stops the source only names the first flight: we report it as “first flight”, together with the number of stops, the flight time (layovers excluded) and the price, without attributing that flight number to the whole trip. Records that fail our consistency checks (airports outside the city, implausible durations or stop counts) are discarded, not corrected.
Next to the price we state when it was seen: the day of the Aviasales search the fare comes from and the time AirSource last read it. Prices are refreshed about every 3 hours for departures within 3 days and every 6 hours otherwise; after 7 days without confirmation a price is no longer shown. When the cache has no price for a date, the page says so: it does not mean there are no flights.
The context is always one way, Economy, 1 adult. We publish pages for the listed routes and for the next 14 days; past dates show neither prices nor booking links.
What we recover from the Aviasales ticket link
Beyond the documented fields, the ticket link returned by Aviasales carries three pieces of information we publish after verifying them: the arrival time and the total travel time (layovers included), the stopover airports, and the fare conditions (carry-on bag, checked bag, changes, refund), plus the day of the Aviasales search the price comes from.
Every value is checked against the documented fields (departure time, airports, number of stops, flight time): if anything disagrees, the information is not published. In the JSON record of every page the field derived_from_search_link lists the data that comes from the link. Fare conditions refer to the fare found in the same search as the price and must be confirmed at booking time.
What we do not do
- We do not run live searches and we do not guarantee prices or availability.
- We do not sell tickets, take payments, or handle changes, cancellations or refunds.
- We do not invent data: if the source does not provide a fact, the page does not show it.
